Killer Mike, or Mike Bigga, whatever you prefer to call him is slowly becoming Atlanta’s more aggressive and angrier Chuck D. I’m not mad at him at all for it either, I just wish that more would take a stand with him.
On October 2, 2012 Brooklyn’s own Skyzoo will be releasing his second studio album, A Dream Deferred on Duck Down Records. It is the long awaited follow-up to 2009′s The Salvation.
Vibe TV partnered with sky to offer an exclusive behind the scenes look at the making of Skyzoo’s sophomore album featuring studio sessions, show footage, and a one on one interview detailing the album’s creative process.
“To me that poem is short but it means so much,” Sky says of the Langston Hughes poem he named the album after. “It’s simple but it as all of these layers to it. I wanted to name the album ‘A Dream Deferred’ because it picks up on the story I began telling on ‘The Salvation.’ On that album is about temptation and which way to go, right and wrong, left and right, the decisions and sacrifices you make to go in either direction and what happens. This album is about what happens when you make those choices…what happens now.” [theurbandaily.com]

I find it funny when people say that aren’t enough “Black” show on tv. Those same people say the same thing about music on the radio. I realized a long time ago, that those two outlets will never cater to the black demographic in a positive light. So just like my music, where I turn off the radio, I will also turn off the tv. Unless Sportscenter is on, or a couple other shows I like but you get the point. I’ve found a handful of shows that real people have produced themselves and instead of going through tv, uploaded them straight to the internet via youtube. As I find more I’ll post them but here are a couple for you to check out.
In my opinion, this would be equivilant to the head wrap…
This is another funny one, why don’t women just get their own food, because they want yours… lol
“Awkward Black Girl”
She is already in season two, but here is the first episode..
I kinda think Stalley is underated, this is cool lil song featuring Wale..
Say what you want about the guy, but Frank Ocean makes dope music and has some dope visuals to go along with it. You can’t really deny great art… Well you can, but you’ll look like an asshole in the process. Channel Orange currently charting at #12 on the digital album downloads(Billboard.com) has some good cuts on it. Peep the video and wait for the end, John Mayer makes a cameo. Sidenote: You think Frank is related to Billy Ocean?
I haven’t always been the biggest 50 Cent fan… Yea I think Hip Hop needed him and G-Unit when they invaded to scene with mixtapes and changed how the cultures music has been marketed ever since. Plus at the time I was even less of a fan of Ja Rule, but that’s neither here nor there. I can’t really say I’m much more of a fan of his music now, but I definitely fuxwit the guy Curtis Jackson’s business acumen. I can only imagine how dude gets down in the boardroom, fugg a mixtape or album, that’s what I would pay to see/hear. 50 stopped by Power 105.1 Friday and spoke with The Breakfast Clubs DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne. For almost an hour they covered a number of topics, Chris Lightys’ death, why Chief Keef was offended by Lupe, Floyd Mayweather, and a couple other topics. What I like most is that you can tell dude isn’t bullshitting about anything and has put really great thought into his career moves and what words he chooses to use. If you have some time hit play on the video and watch. To believe dude was a menace when he entered the game with Get Rich or Die Trying and look how he took that and elevated status quo on what hustling in America can really help you obtain.
